Ikea Patio Table Wood Top
Posted by Dave Eddy on May 16 2017 - tags: diyI bought a patio set of furniture from Ikea when I was living in California around 2011/2012. I was using it up until last year as a desk for my iMac that I replaced with a DIY Computer Desk. My mom gave me the idea to make a wood top for it and turn it into a dining room table - so I did!
Bed Headboard
Posted by Dave Eddy on Nov 07 2016 - tags: diyI decided to make a headboard to accompany the Bed Frame I built earlier this year.
Instead of worrying about how to connect it to my bed frame I sort of cheated, and just framed it up and mounted it to the wall like a hanging picture.
DIY Sliding Barn Bedroom and Bathroom Doors
Posted by Dave Eddy on Nov 06 2016 - tags: diyAfter seeing how much I liked the DIY Closet Barn Doors that I made, I decided to make new doors for my bedroom and upstairs bathroom.
I had already purchased some hardware (that I used for the bathroom door) from Lowe’s about a year ago, so I ended up by what new pieces I would need to finish the bedroom and bathroom doors from Amazon
- SMARTSTANDARD 8 FT Sliding Barn Door Hardware (Black) (I Shape Hangers)
- SMARTSTANDARD Sliding Barn Door Hardware Hangers 2pcs (Black) (J Shape Hangers)
- Iron Valley - 9” Square Door Pull Handle - Solid Cast Iron
Upright Piano Repair
Posted by Dave Eddy on Nov 02 2016 - tags: diyI found this piano on Craigslist for free, as the owner was moving from NY to Florida. I hired piano movers to transport it to my house, and from there I ventured onto trying to fix it myself. Most of the keys were chipped and needed to be re-topped, and about 5 of the keys did nothing when pressed (didn’t play).
I managed to fix most of the issues, but there is still some weirdness with the piano where I will need to hire a professional to come fix it fully.
All of the parts I ordered were from Howard Piano Industries
Motion Sensor Bed LED Lights
Posted by Dave Eddy on Nov 01 2016 - tags: diyI added LED strips to the Bed Frame I built earlier this year activated by a motion sensor. This way, when I walk into my room or get out of bed when it is dark, these will light up and provide a nice ambient glow that will make it easier to see.
- Le Zoey® 200CM 120leds USB 5V 5050 RGB LED Flexible Strip Light Kit
- AUKEY USB Wall Charger with Foldable Plug
- Westek MLC12BC-4 Indoor Plug-In Corded Motion Activated Light Control
The 2 led strips on either side of the bed connect to the USB wall charger adapter, which connects to the motion sensor. Whenever motion is detected, the strips turn on for ~30 seconds providing a nice low light.
Mini Edison Lamp
Posted by Dave Eddy on Oct 29 2016 - tags: diyIn honor of my New Nightstands, I wanted a smaller version of my existing Edison Lamp. I wanted one to take up less space, as the nightstands are slightly smaller than my Old Nightstand.
Matching Nightstands
Posted by Dave Eddy on Oct 29 2016 - tags: diyIt’s only been a year since I built my first nightstand, but in that time I’ve learned a lot that could be translated over into building newer, fancier nightstands for my bedroom.
I still love my light-up nightstand - it will just have a new place in my house.
Laser Etched Overwatch Acrylic Lamps
Posted by Dave Eddy on Oct 10 2016 - tags: diyIn a follow up to my Overwatch Mercy LED Etched Acrylic I used my laser engraver to make a whole set of new Overwatch themed lamps!
